Eva doesn’t claim to be a good guardian angel, but she tries. After she loses two charges, the Powers That Be begin to doubt her abilities. To redeem herself, Eva sets out to rescue Elsie, granddaughter of the former king of the Fae. A demon has kidnapped Elsie to complete an ancient ritual that will allow him to slip through the veil between Earth and Hell during the Sturgeon moon.
Thomas, an angel liaison, finally lands his first mission. But when he’s paired with the angel responsible for his uncle’s death, he has to put aside their differences to get the job done.
With unlikely friends in tow, Eva and Thomas are in a race against time. Save Elsie, save the world—oh, and save Eva’s job.
Interview with the Author
What does a typical day in your life look like? And how does your writing routine fit into your day?
I’m a lifestyle blogger by day and I homeschool the children so I’m quite busy but since I work at home I have flexibility. I sneak in writing when I can – when I take the kids to ice-skating or sitting in the truck while they are at orchestra. Many times I get up early and stay up late to meet my word count and there are many days I don’t meet it at all.
How did you come up with the idea for your novel?
It was really a culmination of things. I take from my life, it can be a song, a conversation, and I grew up in a haunted house. I became familiar with the occult and that added to my books a lot. I decided that if any place in the Western Hemisphere could have supernatural creatures running around it would be St. Augustine, Fl since it is our Nation’s oldest city.
Which character in your book is your favorite and how much of yourself is reflected in that character?
Eva, the Guardian Angel is a strong woman. I’d like to think I’m strong. Of course she has her flaws and so does Thomas. He may be my favorite. He is human and quite vulnerable compared to all of the supernatural creatures in the story.
Which scenes in your book did you have the most fun writing?
The fight scenes, the cussing, and the magik, I don’t do any (or much) of those in my real life so I get giddy when I write them.
What do you have in store next for your readers?
I’m finishing up Ethereal, the second book in this series. It should be ready to go at the end of the month and shortly after that I have the first book in my Alchemist series, The Edge of Eden. It is already written but I need to attack with rewrites. I shelved it last year when my husband had cancer but it is screaming to be published.
About the Author
Mandie Stevens has always been accused of living in her own world so she decided to put it to paper. When she isn’t writing you can catch her lounging on the beach reading. She has ridiculously little feet and would be happy eating seafood every day.
