Jason Reid brilliantly painted a story of two bug’s dream of being Protector Bugs. One would assume that being a protector, especially one who had to fight monsters under children’s beds, would need to be strong. However, true strength isn’t in the body, but in the character of the person (well, bug…). The story embodied foundational values like being a Good Samaritan, Courage, and Will. I wish there were more children’s book out there like this one.
In addition to the story being told beautifully, the book was also illustrated vibrantly. Of the many self-published children’s books I’ve encountered The Protector Bug is one of the most well drawn. The colors are bright, but warm which is soothing for the eyes. Which makes this book a perfect bedtime story to read with your kids. The story has enough passion and adventure to keep your child engaged, but the visuals are soothing enough to calm your child in preparation for bed and beautiful dreams.
