Patient Name: Alexa Stone

I hate this place. It smells like disappointment and disinfectant. And, that’s just the smells I allow myself to take in. God only knows what else I’d get a whiff of if I concentrated. My shrink thought this would be a good idea, documenting my thoughts and feelings like I’m emo or something. I’m writing this on a pretty cool laptop, so I guess it’s fine. They don’t give me pens or sharp objects. They think I might hurt someone. They are so right about that.
For the most part, I’m separated from the rest of the patients here in ‘Crazyland’. That’s what I like to call the psych ward at Navy Med. The only time I see other people is when I eat, in the dining hall. Even then, I’m isolated to one end of the hall, under guard. That’s fine. I don’t care. If these people only knew what was really going on out in the world, they’d never try to recover. Stay here. It sucks out there. All of your nightmare creatures are real. I’ve been fighting them since I was thirteen.
Under the watchful eye of two Jarheads, I take breakfast, lunch and dinner here. Then I’m allowed outside for one hour a day. I usually run. It’s fun to hear those tough Marines fighting for air and trying to keep up with me. If they only knew. I’m special. I’m one of a kind. And, I’m stuck here for God knows how long until the Military deems me fit for decent people again. Those decent people have no idea what goes bump in the night. I do. But, it’s all classified information.
The existence of Vampires and Werewolves has been classified for as long as time. No one is really sure how or why, but they do exist and they’re everywhere. If I told anyone, outside of my unit, Night Command, I’d be locked away forever and not in any place as nice as this. I wonder if they’d kill me instead. Cut me up like a frog in Biology class. I doubt it. They don’t have the stones or the power. But, it’d be fun to see them try though, right?
In about ten minutes, the Jarheads will come in and take me to dinner. They hate me. It could be because this is such a shit job. At least, that’s what I heard one of them say once. Or it could be that I kicked both their asses the other day, literally. I didn’t plan on it. I kinda let my temper get the best of me. But, what was I supposed to do when I found out my best friend in the whole freaking world lied to me? How do you keep the fact that you’re half vampire from someone and not expect them to try to murder you? Ben was the one person I thought I could count on. Turns out, you can’t trust anybody in this world. Well, the troops are here. I guess I should apologize. Or maybe not. Don’t want these guys to think I’m soft, right?
